Membership

The Essex Shire Horse Association was formed to further the knowledge, understanding and love of heavy horses, particularly the Shire horse. Its members organise various events and an annual show for both association members and the general public.

 

 

The Association is an excellent place to make new friends with similar interests, learn new skills and enjoy heavy horses. You don't have to own a horse and no prior knowledge of horses is necessary, just be keen to support the continuation of our heritage. Family groups are particularly welcome.

 

 

In addition to our annual show, we try to hold various social events throughout the year, including a popular quiz night and, weather permitting, a summer barbecue. We welcome offers of help at our show, even if it’s for an hour or so, and we are always eager to hear ideas on how to raise the profile of the wonderful Shire horse.

Fees for annual membership are:

​

• Adult  £12.00 each

• Child (up to 14 years)   £6.00 each

• Family  £25.00 (up to 2 adults + any children up to 14 years)

Once payment has been received, by cash, cheque or bank transfer, you will receive a membership card and a copy of our latest newsletter.
